Jens Quistgaard Early 1950s Staved Teak Ice Bucket with Locking Lid

Categories: , ,

This gorgeous Danish modern solid teak rare ice bucket was an early design by Jens Quistgaard in the 1950s. Featuring staved teak bands, and a clever locking lid system. Much like tea pot lids, the lid has two rectangular protrusions that you line up with the cut-aways on the top of the bucket and turn to lock it into place. This allows you to carry the ice bucket by the lid. Interesting use of what look like handmade brass nails on the handle on the lid and on the body, presumably to secure the plastic liner. In wonderful condition with a gorgeous, rich patina. There is one crack near the top on one side that is completely sealed and does not affect the structure in the least (see last photo). Lid locking mechanism still works perfectly. There are no cracks in the plastic liner. Branded with the makers mark on the bottom. Dimensions: 6.5″ diamter x 12″H.
